GEORGE R. GOSNELL, age 85, of Fallston, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on September 14, 2005. Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harry and Emma Wann Gosnell, and the husband of the late Maryann Gosnell. He had worked as an engineer on the railroad. He collected railroad memorabilia, western movies, and knives. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Gosnell is survived by two sons, David B. Evans of Sonora, California and Guy R. Gosnell of Seaford, California; two daughters, Darleen Matranga of Fallston and Gloria Spies of Minot, North Dakota; one sister, Myra Avey of Martinsburg, West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Mariann and Gary Umstead of Fallston, Joseph and Dona Matranga of Rosedale, Michele and Jeffrey Henninger of Baltimore, Melinda and John Himpler of Abingdon, Bill and Diana Gosnell of Dover, Delaware, Sherry and Albert Mitchell of Dagsboro, Delaware, and Kathy Spies of Minot, North Dakota, and Michael Spies of Minot, ND.; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by a loving friend, Mary Silling of Joppa.
