George "Porky" Popp

Middle River

George "Porky" Popp, age 84, of Middle River, Maryland passed away on July 13, 2024. Born in White Marsh, Maryland, he was the son of the late Howard and Laura (Watts) Popp and husband of 64 years to the late Carolyn (Pott) Popp. He grew up in the White Marsh area and lived in Middle River. Porky was a welder for over 40 years that owned and operated his own company, Maryland Welding & Maintenance until his retirement which he said should have been sooner. He was known for being a competitive motorcycle rider, avid hunter, fisherman and gardener of delicious tomatoes. He had a talent for woodworking and loved reading History novels. He mostly enjoyed entertaining at his waterfront home with family and friends. His great-grandsons were his joy! He is survived by many family and friends who will remember him as a kind, wise, generous spirit with a positive attitude. Porky will be greatly missed by all. 

George is survived by his daughter, Judy (Tim) Sibol; brother, Howard (Marlene) Popp, Jr.; sister, Laura "Lolly" (late Kenny Sr.) Cullum; granddaughter, Whitney (Tim) Siders; grandson, Tyler (Kelsey) Sibol; great-grandsons, Oliver George Sibol, and Wesley Lewis Siders. 

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Popp.
