George J. Oakley Jr., age 76, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on August 24, 2022 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Edgewood, Maryland, he was the son of the late George and Annie (Crouse) Oakley and husband of Bonnie (Siler) Oakley. George was a retired Field Manager for Snap-On Tools. He was a life member at Otter Point Yacht Club and he attended and was baptized at Carsins Run Baptist Church. He was a big AMC fan and a member of the AMC Rambler Club. George loved anything that had to do with classic cars or hot rods and he knew more about cars and how to work on them than the average person. He enjoyed going to car shows, drag racing, boating, and fishing. He was loved by a lot of people and known as a helpful, strong, kindhearted person. Everyone knew that he could be counted on if there was ever a need.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his daughter, Mindy (Oakley) Crawford; son-in-laws, Ryan Crawford and Kenny Curlee; grandchildren, Ricky Curlee and Kaylee Somji; daughter-in-law, Celeste Curlee; sisters, Pam (Oakley) Ogens and Dianna Ricketts; half-sister, Marie Peace; brother-in-law, Frank Ogens; nieces, Courtney Ricketts and Kate (Ogens) Oliverio; and nephew, John Ogens.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by daughter, Melissa Oakley Curlee and half-sister, Lynn O'Donnell.
