George Gallant will always be remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away on February 16th, 2025 at the age of 77 in his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born January 6th, 1948 in Bangor, Maine. In 1965 he met the love of his life, Cynthia Lynne Gallant, known to her friends and family as Cindi. The two high school sweethearts were married soon after on April 20th, 1968. After serving in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971, George and Cindi settled down in Bel Air, Maryland, where he opened Gallant’s Automotive in 1971.
Known for his love and knowledge of all things Corvette, George founded the Bel Air Corvette Club in 1973, and soon became involved with the National Council of Corvette Clubs, even acting as business manager for the organization for a time. Gallant’s Automotive became known as the premiere shop for Corvettes in the area, and is still in operation today under new ownership.
George instilled the values of hard work and education into his children, grandchildren, and protegés. His love for his family, community, and Corvettes has touched the lives of many, from Maine and Michigan to Maryland and Florida.
He is survived by his wife Cindi, his daughter Heather Gallant Gagnon, her husband Conrad Gagnon, and his grandchildren, Samantha Hope Gagnon, Forrest Randolph Gagnon, George Wendall Fritz, and Constance Anne Fritz.
The family will be hosting a visitation for George on February 27th at the McComas Funeral Home in Bel Air from 1PM-4PM.
