George Earl Wenzel

George Earl Wenzel, age 87, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on February 13, 2012 at Hart Heritage in Street, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Joshua Hampden Wenzel and Nellie Virginia Musgrove and husband of the late Estelle Wenzel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. A 1942 graduate of Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore, he played the position of Goalie for John Hopkins Lacrosse and was also a 1950 graduate from there. He was employed with Bethlehem Steel for over 25 years after which he retired as the BOF Assistant Superintendent. He enjoyed taking annual golfing trips to Myrtle Beach with his co-workers and golfing at Sparrows Point Country Club. A longstanding member of Fallston Presbyterian Church, he was active as Clerk of Sessions, Sunday School Superintendent, and Deacons. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and after retirement took on several part time jobs around Bel Air.

Mr. Wenzel is survived by his daughters, Emily Dorsey and husband, Geary, of Fallston, MD and Jane Shearman and husband, Jeffrey, of Forest Hill, MD; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
