George D. Curry, Sr.

September 10, 1936 — August 14, 2004

GEORGE D. CURRY, SR., AGE 67, OF Aberdeen, died at his residence on August 14, 2004. Born in Havre de Grace, he wass the son of the late Charles Melvin, Sr. and Marie Frances Dudok Curry. He worked as a service manager at Plaza Ford for 13 years at Hinder Lincoln Mercury in Aberdeen for 28 years and then as a service manager at Plaza Ford. He also worked at Boyle Buick as a service and body manager. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed square dancing, beginning in 1967 with the Dublin Dancers. He later was a caller and dancer with the Bayside Promenaders of Dundalk, Wee Bees of Lutherville, Yellow Rockers of Edgewood and the Devils and Darlins of Towson. He enjoyed guest calling at various conventions around the country. He was an officer in the Callers Association. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and canvas painting.

Mr. Curry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlene P. Beck Curry; two sons, George Dewey Curry, Jr. and his fiancée, Marti Rakes of Conowingo; Robert J. Curry and his wife, Michele of Havre de Grace; one daughter, Cheryl L. Hansford and her husband, David of Bel Air; four brothers, Charles M. Curry, Jr. of Havre de Grace; Walter W. Curry of Churchville; Frank R. Curry of Darlington; Donald J. Curry of Port Deposit; four sisters, Dorothy Worthington; Helen Hoshall; Bess Bowman; Evelyn Mahan , all of Havre de Grace; a sister-in-law, Treva Curry of Havre de Grace; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be: George Curry, Jr., Robert Curry, Damien Brinegar, David Hansford, Branden Curry, Nathan Curry, and Michael Curry.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 3602 Level Village Road, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
