George D. Colletta, age 62, of Whiteford, MD passed away at home on November 8, 2013. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Camillo E. and Helen Z. Colletta. Mr. Colletta graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in 1970 and worked in the construction field for 37 years. He worked as a bricklayer/mason employed by Local Number 1 of Maryland and continued his career working as a Planner/Estimator and a Construction Representative, retiring from Aberdeen Proving Ground in March 2007. Mr. Colletta was an environmentalist whose love of nature and wildlife was recently acknowledged as the recipient of Harford County's "Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year Award" for 2013. In his younger years, Mr. Colletta was an avid soccer player and carried on his love of the sport by coaching soccer through North Harford Parks and Recreation. He enjoyed farming, gardening and helping his neighbors. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Colletta is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia Rose Colletta; daughters, Anastasia Elise Trent and husband, Craig, of Edgewater, and Jessica Anne Clark and husband, Ryan, of Baltimore; brother, Andrew J. Colletta of Baltimore; and grandchildren, Caroline Colletta Trent and Adam Thomas Trent. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Francis J. Colletta and Ernest H. Colletta.
