George Alfred Boyce, age 79, of Forest Hill, Maryland passed away on December 14, 2020 at Forest Hill Heights Assisted Living in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of George Russell and Mary (Cox) Boyce. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Security Agency and served our country from 1963 to 1968 in the Army Reserves. He entered the computer field in the early 1960’s and pursued a career with the National Academy of Sciences. He was the Director of the Office of Scientific & Engineering Personnel at the time of his retirement in 1996 after 34 years of service. His lifelong fascination with cars began with working on hot-rods with his father and it lasted his lifetime – there was always one parked in the garage to “admire.” George was a perfectionist and the ultimate handyman; he was most proud of the beach house which he designed and built for his family to enjoy for more than 40 years. After retirement he and Mary became avid world travelers. Through it all he was never happier than when he spent time with his family. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather, brother-in-law, son, uncle and friend; and there was never a stranger in George’s house.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Boyce; daughters, Cindy (Frank) Kissner and Erin Boyce; son, Russell (Krista) Boyce; grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel (Mikayla) & Drew Kissner, Noah, Luke & Riley Holloway and Kyle & Dylan Boyce; and sisters, Kathleen (Michael) McCracken and Janet (John) Ahlbrandt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret.
