Genevieve ''Jan'' Zirk

GENEVIEVE (JAN) ZIRK, age 83, of Joppa, MD died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD on April 21, 2008. Born in Lahmansville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter Clarence and Nellie Kathern Dettinburn Dayton and the wife of the late Charles Arthur Zirk. A resident of Harford County for 45 years, she was a member of the New Life Baptist Church, Edgewood, MD. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends (especially baking cakes), growing flowers, and she loved animals - especially her cat, Gabby.

Mrs. Zirk is survived by a son, Steve Zirk of Joppa, MD; a daughter, Deborah Cooley of Sykesville, MD; two brothers, Robert Dayton of Lahmansville, WV and James Dayton of Petersburg, WV; a sister, Julia Foley of Arthur, WV; and two grandchildren, Christopher Cody Cooley and Kylie Sage Cooley, both of Sykesville, MD. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Dennis Zirk, a brother, Eldon Dayton, and a sister, Mary Secrist.
