Gene Martin

Gene Martin, age 64, of Tar Heel, NC, passed away on December 20, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in New Bern, NC, he was the son of the late Alfred Leroy Martin and Christobel Daniels Artrip. A veteran of the National Guard, he worked as a truck driver transporting steel. Formerly of Baltimore County, he was a former member of the Rockaway Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Essex. An active member of Dublin Volunteer Fire Department in Dublin, NC, he was Chief of the Tar Heel Rural Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Bladen County Honor Guard. He was a proud Dad, Pop-Pop and Poppy.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diana V. Martin; son, Christopher Martin of Tar Heel, NC; daughter, Candy Martin Reinhardt of Abingdon; sister, Samantha Failon of NC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Beverly Artrip.
