Gary P. Warfield, age 58, of Edgewood, MD, died on September 2, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of Catherine Louise Proctor Warfield of Bel Air, MD and the late Carroll Wilbur Warfield. He graduated from Towson State University, in 1973, with a Bachelors Degree in elementary education, from Johns Hopkins, in 1978, with a Masters Degree in communicative disorders, and from Loyola College, in 1981, with a Masters Degree in administrative supervision. He retired, after 25 years, from the Harford County Public School system. He taught at William S. James and Prospect Mill Elementary Schools and was also vice-principal at both, and also taught at Magnolia Elementary. He was an avid sports fan of the University of Maryland, the Orioles and the Ravens. He enjoyed playing racquetball and water skiing, and was a past member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Bel Air, MD. He loved all the children he taught and had a special place in his heart for the students at William S. James and the Box Hill and Laurel Valley communities.
Mr. Warfield is survived by his wife of 33 years, Alma M. Kraft Warfield of Edgewood, MD; two sons, Coleman P. Warfield and Ashton G. Warfield, both of Edgewood, MD; daughter, Lauren Leigh Briggs of Airville, PA; brother, Robert C. Hess of Fallston, MD; sister, Darlene Rodaver of Bel Air, MD; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Coleman P. Warfield, Ashton G. Warfield and Kenneth P. Huber.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 800 Wyman Park Drive, Suite 110, Baltimore, MD 21211.
