Gary Keith Probst, EdD, age 75, of Belcamp, MD, formerly of Davidsonville, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on July 13, 2012. The son of the late Newton Probst and Thelma Probst Gearhart of Lock Haven, PA, he was a 4-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving primarily in England where he was in charge of electronics in jet aircraft during the Cold War. He earned his undergraduate degree from Milligan College, TN, Master's Degree at East Tennessee State University and Doctorate of Education at American University, Washington, DC. He was professor emeritus at Prince George's Community College, Largo, MD, in Developmental Studies where he was nationally known as an author of Developmental Studies textbooks and software. Upon retirement he continued to embrace technology, was active in church and civic organizations, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Dr. Probst is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karolynn Rinn Probst of Belcamp, MD; son, Jeffrey Probst and his wife, Kerry of Stevensville, MD; daughter, Denise Lamphere and husband, Wayne of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Cynthia and Ryan; and great granddaughter, Emilee.
A memorial service will be private at a later date.
