Lifelong Bel Air resident and well-known punster, Gary Martin Deel, age 72, passed away peacefully in his home on August 29, 2022. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he was the son of Theresa (Kilmurray) Deel and the late Killow “Kig” Deel. Gary graduated from Bel Air High School in 1968 and worked in various careers before beginning work with his sister, Carol, as an Anger Management Instructor. Gary frequently enjoyed debating most any issue and was quite adept at making it clear who he thought had the better argument. (That would be Gary, if you weren’t sure). Gary loved to play golf and that was how he spent a lot of his free time. Almost more than golf, Gary loved to make puns…some of which were even funny. Gary is survived by his daughter, Elisha, son-in-law, Todd, and his two grandchildren, Eden and Ethan, who reside in Florida. Gary took incredible joy in travels to Florida to spend time with his daughter and grandkids and always looked forward to their visits to Maryland. Gary is also survived by a large, welcoming extended family and could always be found at “Deel” family functions, surrounded by his parents, his three sisters, Carol, Diane, and Catharine, and entertaining (or antagonizing) his nieces and nephews, Joey, Aaron, Brittany, Bryce and Bethany. Gary was preceded in death by his twin brother, Glen, and it is expected they are playing golf or irritating each other (probably both) in Heaven already! Gary had a special relationship with Glen’s daughter, Athena, and her two boys, Evan and Davis, which only grew after Glen’s passing.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to SARC (a local domestic violence resource center) P.O. Box 1207, Bel Air, MD 21014.
