Garland N. Hoover

Garland N. Hoover, age 88, of Joppa, MD, died on June 11, 2010 at Lorien Riverside in Belcamp, MD. Born in Edgar, NE, he was the son of the late Doyle L. and Myrtle Viola Taylor Hoover. Formerly of Ventura, CA, he retired from the L.A. City Fire Department in California after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and attended Mountain Christian Church for many years.

Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis A. Prohaska Hoover of Joppa, MD; son, John Christopher Hoover and wife, Viola, of Acton, CA; daughter, Cynthia Marie Lewis and husband, Howard, of Joppatowne, MD; sister, Davida Wickersham of Seal Beach, CA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother.

There will be a visitation at the home of Cynthia and Howard Lewis on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
