Fumie D. Buckland

Fumie D. “Mariko/Mareka” Buckland, age 93, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away on June 26, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Sansebo, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Hikosaku and Moto Doi and the wife of the late John Calvin Buckland. Fumie was a generous supporter of the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department, where she donated many of her homemade quilts and clothing for fundraising events. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting.

Fumie was a lifelong bowler, participating in the senior league and the Western Shore travel league until just a few years ago. She also loved playing BINGO and played multiple times a week with vast her friends, most often with Shirley Buttion and Sue Derlunas. 

Fumie is survived by her sister-in-law, Cynthia A. Weyen; brother-in-law Lonnie Feury, and many nieces and nephews.
