Frederick Lee Anderson, 81, of Joppa, Maryland died peacefully on December 27, 2023 at Lorien Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. Fred was the son of Alfred and Jacqueline Anderson and grew up in Joppa and attended Edgewood High School. Not long after graduating, Fred would meet the love of his life, Joyce. They married in 1963 and went on to raise three amazing children.
Fred enjoyed several hobbies and was an avid collector of antiques, baseball cards, and rare coins. He spent countless hours buying and selling his goods, sorting baseball cards, and refurbishing antique furniture and clocks. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially going to Oriole games at both Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards. He also took pride in annual family vacations to Ocean City, MD where he enjoyed crabbing off of a Bayside pier, or an early morning walk on the beach with his metal detector, just hoping to hear the buzzing sound in his oversized headphones that he just found his latest treasure. Fred was a career electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 24, where he worked for over 40 years and made his closest friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Calvin, his wife of 59 years, Joyce Joann Anderson, and his son, Steven Craig Anderson. Fred is survived by his son Brian (Tracy) Anderson; daughter, Loretta (Lori) Anderson-Pollack (Andrew); and grandchildren, Madeline, Maxwell, and Macey Anderson; Rebecca (John) Burkhardt, and Ellie (Ian) Pollack.
