Fred Wiley Allen, Sr.

FRED WILEY ALLEN, SR., age 86, of Joppa, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on January 29, 2005. Born in Rural Retreat, Virginia, he was the son of the late William and Stella Elizabeth Grubb Allen. He had retired from his position at Aberdeen Proving Ground where he worked as an electrical engineer. He was a lifetime member of the Elks in Abingdon Lodge 2354 and a past member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 57 years, Claudene Bland Allen; two sons, Fred W. Allen, Jr. of Joppa; Ricky C. Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two daughters, Bonnie C. West of Abingdon; Brenda L. Phillips of Joppa; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was the last of 12 brothers and sisters.
