FRED SPIES, age 62, of Aberdeen, died in Harford Memorial Hospital on May 14, 2003, Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frederick Joseph Spies, Sr. and Winifred Augusta Morgan Spies. He had retired after 35 years of service from the Maryland State Government where he worked for the Highway Administration in maintenance of Interstate 95. A life long resident of Harford County, he enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hall of Fame at Harford Lanes in Aberdeen. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing and was an avid motorcyclist. He served his country in the National Guard.
Mr. Spies is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tamara Lynn Mork Spies; one son, Timothy A. Waibel of Port Deposit; three daughters, Melissa L. Woods of Pennsylvania; Michelle L. Burnell of Pennsylvania; Victoria A. Waibel of Port Deposit; one brother, Thomas G. Spies of Havre de Grace; one sister, Karen D. Jones of Aberdeen; and 10 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Joan Hawkins.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Roberts, Michael Woods, Nicholas Woods, Bill Woods, Brett Burnell, Carey Landa, Tommy Spies, and Sid Formanik.
