FRED J. DAVIS, age 93, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 30, 2007, at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Fred and Pauline Augusta Karolus Davis. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served his country during WWII in Korea. A Harford County resident for 46 years, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, where he served as treasurer for eleven years. He was also a past member of the Lions Club. Mr. Davis worked at Mercantile Bank for 22 years and later with Kingsville Bank, which became Union Trust, where he retired as vice-president in 1978. He was famous for making soups for the family and enjoyed making homemade wine. He was a HAMM Radio operator and enjoyed woodworking, including making clocks. He also enjoyed boating, baseball and puzzles.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine “Bunny” Davis of Bel Air, MD; two sons, Fred “Dave” Davis, Jr., and his wife Kathryn, of Bel Air, MD, and G. Scott Davis and his wife Kimberly of Bel Air, MD; one daughter, Vicki Davis Cone and husband, Bill of Annapolis, MD; five grandchildren, Benjamin Cone of Baltimore, MD, Jessica Oszust of Cambridge, MD, John Michael Davis of Abingdon, MD, and Christopher Davis and Bradley Davis, both of Bel Air, MD; and two great grandchildren, Erin Cone and Emma Oszust, both of Cambridge, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 224 North Main St., Bel Air, MD 21014 or to your favorite charity.
