Fred G. Hachenberg, III, age 78, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on April 5, 2024. Born in Port Jefferson, New York, he was the son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Wubbenhorst) Hachenberg and husband of the late Carol (Botti) Hachenberg. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving active duty for 23 years, with multiple tours in Germany and assignments across the United States. Fred worked for 19 years as a Supervisor at the Churchville Army Testing Center.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Stacey M. (Sharon) Hachenberg and Sherry A. (Richard) Greene; sister, Dorothy Nuerge; sister-in-law, Nancy (Rudy) Gebig; grandsons, Jacob K. Casey, Nate M. Hachenberg Sobel, Guy Greene, and Brandt Greene; granddaughters, Loretta Fleming, and Alexa Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Knox K. Carr Casey and Ace M. Greene.
Fred had a deep passion for cars and was an avid fan of NASCAR and Formula One racing. His kindhearted nature and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He was known for his generosity and love for animals, especially his dogs, cats, and chickens. Fred's weekly texts to family and friends, reminding them to "Stay Safe," were a testament to his caring nature.
