Franklin L. Couch Jr., age 90, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on September 21, 2011 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Franklin Lindley Couch, Sr and Ruth Emily Pierce Couch. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country in the South Pacific during WWII aboard PT Boat #347. An avid golfer, he had worked as a chemist at Edgewood Arsenal and was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Abingdon.
Mr. Couch is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Longley Couch of Abingdon, MD; son, Franklin Lindley Couch, III of Abingdon, MD; daughters, Deborah Padgett of Abingdon, MD and Pamela Prater and husband, Russell, of Bel Air, MD; brothers, Nathan Couch and wife, Nancy, of Dover, MA and Robert Couch and wife, Janet, of Easthampton, MA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Carie Phipps, Amy Phipps Melnick, Shawn Couch, Kyle Keesler, Cory Couch, Breanna McMillan, Daja McMillan, Dominick Jankovich and Landon Melnick.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Sheron Munro.
