Frank Wioncek, age 90, of Bel Air, MD, died on January 13, 2010 at his home. Born in Carthage, NY, he was the son of the late John and Agnes Wirzbicka Wioncek and husband of the late Helen J. Wioncek who he married on September 7, 1941 at St. James Church in Carthage, NY. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served with the 13th Air Force, 372nd Heavy Bomber Group (B-24's), flying 42 missions between April 1942 and October of 1945 in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. A dairy farmer for 20 years, he also worked for St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet, NY for 44 years, retiring from there in 1983. He was a life member of both the American Legion-Bassett Baxter Post 789 and the VFW Post 7227, located in Carthage, NY. He was a resident of Bel Air since September of 2003.
Mr. Wioncek is survived by his son, Tom Wioncek and wife, Deborah, of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Lorraine Stevens and husband, Gordon, of Chaumont, NY; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, John Wioncek and sister, Josephine Cicone.
A Funeral Mass and interment of cremated remains will take place at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Carthage, NY at a later date.
