Frank Louis Butler

June 12, 1944 — March 17, 2025

Frank Louis Butler, age 80, of Darlington, Maryland, passed away on March 17, 2025, at Sterling Care Forest Hill in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Batavia, New York, he was the son of the late Albert and Marion (Peterson) Butler and the beloved husband of Elaine Butler, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and remained passionate about his country throughout his life. He was a longtime member of Edgewood Assembly of God, where he made lasting contributions to the church, notably by working on their sound system. His love for technology and problem-solving was evident to all who knew him. Frank had a talent for taking things apart and putting them back together, a skill he honed from a young age and further developed through electronics courses in high school.

Frank’s career brought him to Maryland, where he worked at American Totalisator. He was also a dedicated Royal Ranger Commander at church, where he influenced many young lives. Beyond his technical expertise, Frank was an active participant in the Men’s group at Edgewood Assembly of God, always willing to lend a helping hand to the community and friends. His "Mr. Fix It" reputation earned him respect and affection from those around him.

An avid video gamer and passionate fan of all things Sci-Fi, Frank enjoyed the worlds of Star Wars and Star Trek, among other interests. He found joy in the exploration of new technologies, and his enthusiasm for these hobbies never waned.

In addition to his wife Frank is survived by his son, Gregory Butler; daughter, Joy Butler (Richard) Thompson; grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson, and Sarah (Phansan) Kaewsawat; brother, Gary L. Butler; great-grandson, Hahn Kaewsawat; brother-in-law, Andrew Eldridge; mother-in-Law, Eleanor Eldridge, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
