FRANCIS X. �FRANK� WARD, retired pharmacist, died of cancer on October 5, 2005 at his home in Bel Air at the age of 83.
Born in Baltimore, he was a 1940 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School and Loyola College before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After his discharge from the service, he married Joyce E. Jones of Sacramento, California and returned to Maryland.
He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1950 and was a popular and well-respected Pharmacist in Baltimore and then in Bel Air until his retirement in 1992.
Mr. Ward has been active in St. Margaret Church and lived in Bel Air for 47 years. He and Joyce volunteered for years in the outreach kitchen providing food for the needy and also on the Bel Air Appearance and Beautification Committee. His favorite lifetime activities were tennis and golf. He played tennis and served as Team Captain for Calvert Hall and also played for Loyola College. Frank belonged to the Harford County Tennis Club for 34 years. He was an avid swimmer and walker which he enjoyed doing with his wife, Joyce.
Frank will be truly missed by his family, many friends and his mother-in-law, Evelyn A. Jones of California.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce E. Jones Ward; his six children, Steven E. Ward and his wife, Millie, of Grass Valley, CA, John P. Ward and his wife, Dana, of Abingdon, James F. Ward and his wife, Barbara, of Bel Air, Mark T. Ward and his wife, Betsy, of Abingdon, his daughter, Lyn M. Ward of Bel Air, and Paul X. Ward and his wife, Denise, of Colora; two brothers, Paul C. Ward of Owings Mills and Edward G. Ward of Bel Air; two sisters, M. Theresa Collison of Towson and Catherine A. Cosgrove of Reisterstown; and seven grandchildren. He was the eldest son of the late George A. and Marie C. Jaecksch Ward. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Ward.
Pallbearers will be: Steven E. Ward, John P. Ward, James F. Ward, Mark T. Ward, Lyn M. Ward, and Paul X. Ward.
