Francis "Grumpy" Lawrence, Jr.

September 19, 1959 — June 24, 2024

Francis "Grumpy" Lawrence, Jr., age 64, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on June 24, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center with his 4 daughters by his side in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Maryland, he was the son of Francis and Theresa Lawrence, along with a sister Kathy Lawrence Krach.

Francis, known fondly as Frank, was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He loved fishing, often spending time at Loch Raven, and later sharing this passion with his beloved grandson, Jack. Frank adored his dog, Dolly, frequently taking her on walks and treating her to chicken tenders with honey mustard from fast food restaurants.

In addition to his love of fishing and his dog, Frank enjoyed riding his motorcycle. His stern personality earned him the nickname "Grumpy," but as he grew older, he turned into a big sap and showed his soft side. Frank's devotion to his family was unwavering. He often reminded his daughters of the importance of standing up for each other, saying, "If anybody messes with your sister, you fight them until somebody pulls you off of them. If not, you will be in trouble when you get home." His close relationship with his grandson Jack was especially meaningful to him.

Francis is survived by his beloved daughters, Tina Queen and wife, Angel Queen, Samantha Watts and husband Dane Watts, Kari Queen, and Alexandra Lawrence, and his grandchildren, Jack Queen, Bradley Milburn, and Gracie Watts.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.

Frank will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.

Celebration of Life will be held on Monday July 15, 2024, from 4-8pm, at Das Beirhalle, upstairs level, 119 S Main Street, Bel Air, Md 21014
