Francis "Frank" Xavier Gallagher, age 71, born November 7, 1950 in New York, New York, passed away on December 15, 2021 at his home in Abingdon, MD. He was the son of Francis and C. Patricia (Comiskey) Gallagher and husband to Virginia (Izzo) Gallagher.
Frank grew up in Queens, New York, with summers spent on the north shore of Long Island in the small town of Cutchogue. It was there that lifelong friends and memories were created. He and Gini met there in 1966.
Frank excelled in track and was therefore awarded a scholarship to college. Records his team set remain unbroken to this day. He was a lifelong student of history, and an avid reader until serious illness struck 25 years ago. Despite his being unable to work, he still would rally for family vacations, and gourmet wine dinners with friends. His love of all types of music never faded. Many people knew Frank by his extraordinary wit and dry sense of humor. He was often making others laugh. Those memories are many.
There was a special place in Frank’s heart for his dogs; Kerry, Murphy, and Clancy. Most of all, Frank loved his family. He and Gini shared 48 years of marriage. He cherished anytime he got to spend with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his two daughters, Erin Gallagher, Casey (Nathan) Goulden; grandchildren, Annabel and Sydney Goulden; four brothers, J. Richard Gallagher, Kevin Gallagher, Vincent Gallagher, Eugene Gallagher. He was preceded in death by father, Francis Xavier Gallagher, mother, C. Patricia Gallagher.
