Francis "Frank" Leo Schindler Sr., age 90, of Abingdon, MD passed away on June 23, 2013 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Frank Aloysius and Hester Dorothy Lyons Schindler. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served our country during WWII. He had worked for his father as a Beer Distributor and then started his own business, a tavern called "Roach's Café" that he owned for 15 years. He had driven dump trucks for excavators, piloted small planes and was a beekeeper. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Loch Raven Gun Club.
Mr. Schindler is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Schindler; son, Francis L. Schindler Jr. of Abingdon; daughter, Dorothy Schindler of Perry Hall; brother, James J. Schindler of Parkville; sister, Mary Rita Leshinskie of Shamokin, PA; daughters-in-law, Janice A. Schindler and Linda G. Schindler; son-in-law, James G. Reed; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James A. Schindler and daughter, Mary Anita Reed.
