Florence J. Morrows, 91, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on October 2, 2015, at Bel Air Health and Rehab Center, Bel Air. Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Wilson Machette and Catherine (Crowell) Machette and wife of the late Walter L. Morrows. She was a Eucharist Minister at St. Columbkille, Ft. Myers, Florida, and when she moved to New Jersey, became a lay person of the Third Order of St. Dominic Society. Her catholic faith was very strong and, in fact, she would always say "I don't know how people can live without having a faith or God in their life".
Mrs. Morrows always worked, but her last job was her most favorite as she was the administrator of Temple Beth Torah, Ocean, New Jersey, retiring after 12 years of service. She was the first gentile who worked in their office and they had such respect for her. In retirement, she was most passionate about writing, and after a trip to Scotland, wrote a book entitled "A Mother's Love". Even though it was never published, she felt most proud of her accomplishment.
Mrs. Morrows is survived by her sons, Robert Morrows (Iris) of Pine Beach, NJ, Edward Morrows (Donna) of Ocean Grove, NJ and her daughter, Susan Savitsky (David) of Abingdon; grandchildren, Jessica Savitsky, Jaime Savitsky Thomas, Philip "Buster" Savitsky, Raymond Feliciano, Ilia Stranko, Samantha Morrows and Nicholas Morrows and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was predeceased by her brother, Gilbert "Buster" Machette and a sister, Sr. Catherine Cecilia, OP.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
