Florence Isabelle Sullivan

November 23, 1917 — May 10, 2009

Florence Isabelle Sullivan died peacefully at her home on May10, 2009 with family at her side. She was 91. Mrs. Sullivan was born on Nov. 23, 1917, in Fork Md. to Burgan and Florence Dilworth. She married Paul D. "Kelly" Sullivan in June 1942.
She was affectionately known as "Belle" to family, friends and acquaintances.

Belle attended St. Margaret School in Bel Air, and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1935. She attended Towson State College and Strayer's Business School.

Mrs. Sullivan worked at Black & Decker in Towson, MD before her marriage.

Belle was a talented vocalist who honed her skills at the Peabody Preparatory School in Baltimore. She sang as a soloist in many weddings and was in several church choirs. However, Belle's greatest audience was her grandchildren, who listened delightfully to the melodic nursery rhymes she would repeatedly sing to them.

Mrs. Sullivan was a dedicated homemaker, who cared not only for her own children, but lovingly for those who were in need of care and attention. On several occasions her crowded home was opened to friends of the family for temporary residence. Her family speaks proudly of these times when Belle instinctively provided care and attention to those in need.

Belle was active in the St. Margaret Community, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the American Cancer Society and other charitable organizations that needed assistance.

Mrs. Sullivan was beloved by the scores of people that she touched through her children's exploits in Little League, Girl Scouts, church and social activities, high school sports, etc. She was a woman of simple needs who positively impacted many people through her loving smile and caring manner.

Mrs. Sullivan is preceded in death by her husband, Paul D. "Kelly" Sullivan, a young son, David Noel Sullivan, a brother, Philip Dilworth, a grandson, Scott Sullivan, and a son-in-law, Richard A. Cotton.

She is survived by sons, Paul Daniel, Jr. and wife Martha, Timothy and wife Brenna, Thomas "Lucas" and wife Debbie, John and wife Soubirous; two daughters, Penelope and husband Joe, and Catherine Cotton.

Her survivors include ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother, David Dilworth, a sister Roberta Bleinberger and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Brian Sullivan, Katie Smeades, Maighdlin Sullivan, Philip Sullivan, Richard J. Cotton, Anthony Cargioli, Maureen L. Sullivan, Sara Goodman, Mary Kathryn Sullivan, and Timothy Cargioli.
