Florence B. Travers of Havre de Grace, MD passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on May 2, 2016. She was 80 years old. Born in Oxford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Matilda Elizabeth (Burke) Burns. She was a 1954 graduate of Aberdeen High School and then worked as a clerk typist for the U.S. Government Civil Service. She loved the beach, the Assateague ponies and nature's beauty. She lived with sacrifice so her family could have. She had an open heart and she opened her home to many so that they could enjoy their time together. She loved her family and was dedicated to her children. She was known as "Mom Flo" to the Greyhound family.
Mrs. Travers is survived by her sons, Patrick Harold Travers and his wife, Barbara Noske Travers, of Bel Air and Kevin Emmett Travers of Aberdeen; daughters, Maureen Elizabeth Wesner and Karen Ann Atkinson, both of Bel Air and Shannon Matilda Malat and husband, Michael Marion Malat Jr., of Aberdeen; brother, John "Buddy" Burns of Newark, DE; sisters, Nancy L. Burns of Darlington and Genevieve L. Heckl of Ellicott City; and grandchildren, Joshua Wesner, Kelly Atkinson, Kristel Vallair, Brennan Travers, Jonathan Sipes, Erin Smith and Katie Pace; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Benjamin, Henry, Clarence and Paul Burns and sisters, Mabel C. Burns, Ruth B. Garrity, Joan Matilda Forwood, Grace Homer and Judy Burns.
Pallbearers will be Patrick, Brennan and Wesley Travers, Michael Malat Jr., Robert and Grant Huntley. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Wesner, Jonathan Sipes, Michael Vallair, David Smith, Justin Pace and Troy Duff.
