Flora May S. Stein

FLORA MAY STREETT STEIN, age 98, of Bel Air, MD, living at Brightview Assisted Living of Bel Air, passed away at Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation on August 2, 2008. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Stein. Born in Harford County, she was a graduate of Jarrettsville High School, the Towson Normal School, and held a B.S. degree in Philosophy from Johns Hopkins University. In addition, she attended the University of Maryland. She was a school teacher in the Harford County School system, retiring after 41 years. Her last 17 years of teaching were at Wakefield Elementary School in Bel Air. She taught approximately 7000 children in her 41 years of service. She was a member of the Harford County and Maryland State Retired Teachers Association. She volunteered at Fallston Hospital for 12 years in the gift shop and accumulated more than 3000 hours as a volunteer. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Teachers Bridge Club, and the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Madonna.

Mrs. Stein is survived by a son, Samuel C. E. Stein of Apoptka, FL; two grandchildren, Paul Michael Stein of Sanford, FL and Sabrina Brett Cook of Spring Hill, TN; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie Cook and Ava Cook, both of Spring Hill, TN; a niece, Joan Ryder of Bel Air, MD; and her very good friend, Sandy Paules of Bel Air, MD who cared for her in her last years. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Major Anne Streett of the Army Nurse Corps and Katherine Ravizza who was employed by the Navy and lived in Massachusetts; and a brother, Kenneth Streett who operated a large dairy farm near Madonna.
