Flora Jeanne Hamby Kidd, age 81, of Fallston, Maryland, passed away on March 1, 2025. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Gingel and Mary (Preston) Hamby and beloved wife of Edward Joseph Kidd. Jeanne was a lifelong resident of Harford County.
A graduate of Bel Air High School, Class of 1961, Jeanne was a woman of many talents, having worked in several roles throughout her life.
She was a medical supply representative, a dental office receptionist, and had a long career in fine jewelry retail at Macy’s and Hecht Company stores in Bel Air. However, her most cherished role was that of a homemaker, where she lovingly created a warm and welcoming home for her family.
In her later years, after retiring, Jeanne found joy in RV trips with her husband, bird watching, gardening, and cross-stitching. Jeanne enjoyed many years as a volunteer with The Historical Society of Harford County in the Archives Department.
In addition to her husband, Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Kerry Lee Grindle, son, Kevin William Grindle (Jennifer), grandchildren Justin Grindle, Zachary (Morgan) Mellion, Joseph Grindle, her sister, Virginia Lee Sauers, her sister-in-law Nancy L. Kidd, and nephew William C. Riordan and his wife Mary (Sissy). Many first and second cousins with Harford County roots survive her which leave fond memories and stories to share and treasure. And Jeanne’s three nieces spent many hours with their beloved “Neanne”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Little Falls Friends Meeting on Old Fallston Road in Fallston, at a later date.
