Faye Marqueen Pyle, 94, of Forest Hill, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Berwick, PA, she was the daughter of John H. and Thelma E. (Pollock) Shultz.
After graduating from Berwick High School in 1941, she began working at Western Union and was quickly promoted to manager. In that role, she traveled the Tri-State area and ultimately was transferred to Bel Air where she met her future husband. She always talked about the first time they met at a local Main Street restaurant and how handsome he was in his uniform.
After raising her daughters, she worked and retired from the Harford County Board of Education in 1985. Faye enjoyed being surrounded by family and her many dear friends. She was very active in local garden, quilting, bridge clubs and the Officer's Wives club. She served as a volunteer at Fallston General Hospital, the APG Thrift Shop and the Lutheran Mission Society. Her humble approach in providing community services was an inspiration to her family and friends.
Faye has been a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church since the late 1950s and sang in the choir for more than 40 years. She was an active member of the Daylighter's Group.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Edwin Rutledge Pyle. Faye is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Francis and Tish Hilker of Forest Hill and their spouses, Dave Francis and Jeff Minnick. Also surviving is her dear sister Helen Shultz of Bushnell, FL; sisters-in-law Lucille Autry of Beaumont, TX; Betty Shultz of New Port Richey, FL; and Dee Shultz of Bushnell, FL . Other surviving family are brother and sister's- in- law Robert and Ruth Pyle of Norrisville, MD; Betty Sturgill of Forest Hill, MD; Janet McIntyre of Bel Air, MD; and Mildred Pyle of Myrtle Beach, SC; four step-grandchildren Heather and husband, Chris Bitely of Belfast, Maine; Lisa and husband Pete Laramee of Belcamp, MD; Jeffrey Minnick and Chelsea Hesson of Texas; three great step grandchildren, Katy and Jimmy Bitely of Belfast, Maine and Joshua Laramee of Belcamp, MD and many nieces, nephews, close friends and her very dear caregivers Annie Harvey and Sheila Chase. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Charlie Shultz, Dale Shultz and Jimmy Shultz.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and support of Gilchrist Hospice Care over the last 10 months and a special thanks to her devoted nurse, Kim Schonfeld, RN
