F. Marie Evans Smart Bechtel

F. Marie Evans Smart Bechtel of Bel Air, Maryland, formerly of Parkville and Fork, died February 8 at Mariner Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bel Air, MD. She was 93 years old.

Born January 6, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lillian Kratz and the late Francis Marion Evans.

Mrs. Bechtel graduated from Towson High School and then completed business school. In 1977, she retired from the Federal Government where she was a clerk typist. While employed, she worked for Edgewood Arsenal, the Navy Department and the Social Security Administration.

Mrs. Bechtel was known for her humor. She also enjoyed dancing and traveling and was a member of the Moose Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Smart-Sullivan of Bel Air and Sharon Lee Taylor of Baltimore. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Donna Lynn Riley of Hobart, Indiana and Briana Marie Sullivan of Bel Air; two grandsons, Donald Whitaker of Hobart, Indiana and Jeffrey White of Baltimore; and two great grandsons, Joe Riley of Hobart, Indiana and Jeffrey White Jr. of Baltimore.

Mrs. Bechtel was preceded in death by two husbands, William Frederick Smart and William Dennison Bechtel, a daughter Joan C. Montgomery, a son Terry William Smart and a grandson Keith Allan Smart.
