Evelyn Bell Riley-Hess, age 89, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on February 21, 2018 at the Berlin Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of James Earle and Evelyn Irene Worthington. She was a dedicated employee of APG for 52 years. She last served as the Public Affairs Officer at the US Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventative Medicine (CHPPM). She loved her family, and particularly enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Fallston. She authored a book she dedicated to her grandchildren that documented her experiences growing up on a farm in Harford County. She also taught for several years at Harford Community College and loved to travel.
Bell is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Riley Smoot (Stephen) of Parkton, MD, Peggy Washburn (Robert) of Selbyville, DE, and Robbie Harmon (Craig) of Selbyville, DE; sister, Ruth Brannan; brother, Robert Worthington; grandchildren, Abbey Smoot, Rob Smoot, Kyle Washburn, Jeff Washburn, Erin Spitzer; and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Riley, and her second husband, Harold Hess; brother, William Worthington; sister, Frances Craig; and grandchild, Travis Rudacille.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3345 Charles Street, Fallston, MD 21047.
