Eva "Joyce" Deems

Eva Joyce "Joy" Deems, age 94, of Churchville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, at her home. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Thurman and Matilda Ruark.

Eva was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a resident of Harford County for 41 years. She was the loving wife of Carroll Deems for 58 years, and together they founded Arrow Electrical Supply Company, retiring in 1993. Eva was an active member of Evangel Assembly of God, where she found joy in teaching Sunday School and Missionettes.

Her passions included praising God, solving puzzles, playing cards, nurturing flowers, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her family.

Eva is survived by her three sons: Mark T. Deems (Martha A.) of Street, Allen D. Deems (Linda L.) of Stevensville, and Glenn S. Deems (Nancy L.) of Elkridge. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jennifer E. Brown of Street, Emily J. Cross of Darlington, David T. Deems of Street, Sarah K. Deems of Elkridge, and Rachael V. Kavalok of Pensacola; and four great-grandchildren: Kyle D. Cross and Caleb T. Cross of Darlington, and Abigail G. Brown and William A. Brown of Street.

Visitation will be held at McComas Family Funeral Home in Abingdon, Maryland, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Joyce asked that contributions may be made to Rising Sun Church of God, 1006 Hopewell Road, Port Deposit, MD 21904 for the furtherance of the Gospel!
