EUGENE HARRIS, age 80, of Joppa, died at Harford Memorial Hospital on March 8, 2005. Born in Drill, Virginia, he was the son of the late Luther and Virgie Mae Tiller Harris and the husband for 33 years of the late Elizabeth Irene Greiner Harris. A resident of Edgewood for over 30 years, he had retired from Edgewood Arsenal after 34 years of service as a chemical engineer with the Chemical Systems Laboratory. After his retirement, he did new home construction in Harford County. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa, Shima, and Ryukyu Islands during WW II. His medals include the Purple Heart in 1945; the Asiatic Pacific Medal of Valor; and the Congressional Medal of Courage. He was a member of the Edgewood American Legion. A devout Christian, he was a member of the Edgewood Assembly of God.
Mr. Harris is survived by four daughters, Linda S. Glod of Rising Sun, Wanda L. Bader of Bel Air, Sherri L. Navarre of Joppa, and Kimberly M. Dennison of Darlington; a sister, Dallas Dolan of Emmorton; seven grandchildren, Tina A. Dennison, Sara E. Dennison both of Whiteford, Nicole A. Navarre, Jeremy E. Navarre, both of Joppa, Ashley L. Glod of Port Deposit, Katelyn E. Bader, Nicholas A. Bader, both of Bel Air; one great-grandchild, Blain M. Scott of Whiteford; an uncle, Clarence Harris of Edgewood; and an aunt, Helen Booth of Forest Hill. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one sister, Virginia Cross.
Pallbearers will be: Timothy Bader, Robert Dennison, and Jeremy Navarre.
