Esther I. Scarborough

Esther I. Scarborough, age 89, of Darlington, MD, died on December 9, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Churchville, MD, she was the daughter of the late James A. V. and Grace Street Mahan. A longtime member of Smith's Chapel, she sang in the choir and was very active in the ladies church organizations. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she also enjoyed crocheting clothing for all of them.

Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her husband of 67 years, Merril E. Scarborough of Darlington, MD; son, Stephen D. Scarborough of Darlington, MD; daughters, Gwendolyn A. Beall of Chester, VA, Betty S. Beall of Abingdon, MD, and Marilyn S. Herling of Parkton, MD; brother, Stanley C. Mahan of Aberdeen, MD; sister, Mary Murray of Derry, NH; grandchildren, Cheyenne Scarborough of Rising Sun, MD, Michael Beall of Chesterfield, VA, Gregg Beall of Naples, FL, S. Chris Beall of Edgewood, MD, Jeffery Beall of Ojai, CA, Adam Herling of Parkton, MD, Tyra Herling of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren, Brandon Beall of Blacksburg, VA, Tyler Beall and Cameron Beall of Chesterfield, VA, Orion and Haiele Beall of Naples, FL, and Sarah Beall of Edgewood, MD. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sons, John M. Scarborough, Richard M. Scarborough and Paul A. Scarborough, and grandson, Jonathan Beall.

Pallbearers will be Gregg Beall, Chris Beall, Mike Beall, Adam Herling, Stephen D. Scarborough, and Jerry Mahan.
