Esther Everitt Dombrowski

Esther Everitt Dombrowski died October 9, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born September 19, 1931 near Bel Air and lived in the area all her life. Her parents were Emmett and Annabel Terry Everitt. Esther was proud that her heritage was in Harford County.

Educated in the public school system, she graduated from Bel Air High School in 1948. She attended Millersville State College and the University of Maryland, receiving degrees in Library Science. At the age of 20 she was the school librarian at Bel Air High School, where she stayed for 31 years. Esther loved books, the printed word and young people. She touched the lives of hundreds of students as they passed through.

She also carried the title of "Wife of the Band Director" Raymond Dombrowski. Their high school marching band performed all over the state and beyond. Esther sponsored the majorettes and when more non-musical students wanted to take part she organized the pom pom group. Hundreds more young people became involved in her life.

After retirement she joined The Aegis staff as a special writer for a number of years. While at the newspaper, she helped organize The Empty Stocking Project.

Esther was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Emmorton. She was an active member of The Women of St. Mary's, and was frequently an officer. She was famous for directing the meals, receptions and parties catered by the women's group. But Esther's life work was helping others. She was involved in most every mission sponsored by her church and many, many others. If someone needed a friend she was there.

Esther is survived by a sister, Ann and her husband Edwin Weaver of Bel Air and 5 nephews: Timothy, Carl, Glenn and Neil Weaver and Michael Ward, brother-in-law Andrew and wife Elaine Dombrowski, and several great nieces and nephews as well as hundreds of friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond and her sister, Dorothy E. Ward.

A reception with refreshments and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary's parish hall following the interment.
