Emory Wheat

August 27, 1942 — February 1, 2013

Born in Churchville, MD, he was the son of the late Jennings Emory Wheat Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Wilson Wheat. Born and raised in Harford County, Emory has had a lifelong love of flying and everything that it represented. At the age of 10, he started working at Aldino Airport, which is now known as Harford County Airport. He grew up on the grounds of the airport and started taking flying lessons at 12 years old. He obtained his pilot's license at the age of 16 and has been flying ever since. Emory has served as a mechanic, inspector and instructor, in addition to being a corporate pilot for several companies over the years. He was recently recognized by the FAA with the Wright Brothers Award for 50 years of continuous flying.
