EMMETT FLETCHER STANLEY, age 76, of Hedgesville, West Virginia, formerly of Joppa, MD, died in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. on September 27, 2005. Born in Coalwood, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Lawerence and Ida Eva Adline Brown Stanley. He had worked as a mechanic supervisor for the Department of Public Works. He had also worked as a coal miner and had worked on the railroad. He was a resident of Harford County, MD, from 1957 to 1984. He enjoyed hunting and collected guns and tools. He graduated from National Technical School in 1960.
Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Olagay Deel Stanley; a daughter and son-in-law, Emily Sharron and Larry W. Zombro of West Virginia; two brothers, Earl Stanley of North Carolina and Thomas Stanley of California; five sisters, Jean Owens of Indiana, Helen Bushnell of Washington, Juanita Scarboro of North Carolina, Ruth McCoy of Michigan, and Judy Long of Washington; three grandchildren, Alyce D. Burton, Travis A.C. Proffitt and Chanda M. Loudan, all of West Virginia; four great grandchildren, Justin D. Peters, Morgan S. Clark, Sharemay P. Clark and Angine M. Proffitt, all of West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Elmer, Billy, Ernest and Ellis Stanley and a sister, Bell Campbell.
Pallbearers will be: Jim Powers, Scott Powers, Steven Deel, Jarrett Deel, Wesley Deel, and Doug Clark.
