Emily Joyce Blackburn

September 26, 1928 — November 11, 2014

Emily Joyce Blackburn, age 86, of Reading, PA, formerly of Abingdon, MD, passed away on November 11, 2014 at Berkshire Center Nursing Home in Reading, PA. Born in Lenoir, NC, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Edna Abernathy Wilson and wife of the late Harrison Jonathan Blackburn. She retired from Edgewood Arsenal where she had worked for approximately 30 years. She liked to bowl and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in Bible Study Group. She moved to Pennsylvania in 2004.

Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her sons, Thomas H. Blackburn and wife, Carmen Perry Blackburn, of Atlanta, GA and David H. Blackburn and wife, Terry, of Morganton, NC; daughter, Carolyn J. Blackburn of Reading, PA; siblings, Joseph Wilson of Lenoir, NC; her twin sister, Jean Smith of Lenoir; Thelma Beach of Raleigh, NC and Alta McGowen of Lenoir; grandchildren, Jackie Barrett, Michelle Sedlack, Suzanne Hafer, David Sedlack, Kellie Kahler, Seth Blackburn and Megan Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Cole and Marin Barrett, Cayman Blackburn, Derrick Kahler, Cole Sedlack, Ethan Kahler, Talen Kahler, Lauren Hafer and Sophia Hafer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Alma Caudle and Elizabeth Pipes.
