Emery Milton Corey, USN of Street died September 6th. He was 85.
Known as "Corey" to his family and friends he was born December 15, 1929 to Louis and Agnes Corey in Centereach, NY. After serving over 20 years in the U.S. Navy he settled in the D.C. area with his lovely wife, Betty "Lee" Corey where he began a career in the Special Police for the Library of Congress.
He retired to Harford County after serving another 20 years on the Special Police force where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. It was then that Corey and Lee opened Kedra's House where they fostered special needs children until her death in 2000.
He is survived by his children: Jeffrey O'Neil (Robert), David Corey (Carl), Kelly Corey (Patti), Jennifer Rooney (Mike), Tiffany, Zakkiya and Isaiah Corey; grandchildren: Heather Dautrich, Holly Zegalia (Steve), Sarah Bickham, Jonathan Bickham, Lindsay Post (Luke), Jesse & Samantha Post; great grandchildren: Bobby, Billy, Charlie, Rachel & Russell.
He was predeceased by his son Kevin Corey, grandson Devon Corey, and wife of 40 years Betty "Lee" Corey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Disabled American Veterans, 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD 21201.
