Elwood John Casperson, age 83, of Fallston, MD passed away on February 12, 2018 in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of Elwood and Annie (Montague) Casperson.
Mr. Casperson is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wylie Casperson; two daughters, Cindy (Robert) P. Weinhold of Fallston and Sandra (Guy) A. Dupont of Ramsey, NJ; son, Paul E. Casperson of Shangahi, China; grandchildren, Timothy R. Weinhold, Garrett J. Weinhold and Brendan P. Weinhold all of Fallston, Peter M. Mariani, Andrew P. Mariani and Meghan F. Mariani all of Ramsey, NJ; and great-grandson, Cole W. Weinhold of Fallston. He was loved dearly by his children and grandchildren. He was a Roman Catholic with a strong faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Casperson and Jesse Casperson.

Elwood was born on April 9th. He and his two brothers grew up with their mother Anne in Paterson, NJ.
A graduate of Montclair Stare College, Elwood enjoyed a long teaching career at Pascack Valley High School. His main job was teaching Physical Education and Health, drivers education and was the coach of the track and field team. He was honored for his coaching by being elected into the Pascack Valley High School Hall of Fame. He also served as the Vice Principle before retiring.
Elwood was a quiet and humble man who faithfully served his God as a Catholic and his county in the US Army. He served during peacetime and was stationed in Hawaii where one of his jobs was coaching the baseball team. Since idolizing Mickey Mantle as a child he had a love affair with baseball. He was a NY Yankees fan who also enjoyed coaching and teaching.
Elwood was an outdoors person. Many of his favorite hobbies, such as swimming and snow skiing involve the outdoors and water. After retiring he moved to the St. Petersburg area of Florida. He loves the beauty of the American West and traveled around the country in his Southward Winnebago. He enjoyed visiting Nevada so much that he ended up moving there for a short time before moving back to Florida.
His favorite holiday is Easter. favorite foods are chocolate and pot roast, favorite season is Spring and favorite show is Jeopardy. His favorite car was his Chrysler Lebaraon Convertible that his family affectionally named “the Babe.”
Elwood enjoyed singing and listening to the music of the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra and Dean Marin, and was always moved by John Denver ’s song "Perhaps Love.” He will remain in the hearts of his family forever.
