Elsie M. Peck

 Elsie Miller Peck, 98 of Street, MD, formerly of North Avenue in Overlea, passed away on August 28, 2024, at home with family around her. Born in Baltimore, MD on August 31, 1925. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. Elsie was a Registered Nurse who graduated from the Union Memorial School of Nursing in 1947. Elsie worked at Union Memorial, St. Joseph’s and Franklin Square Hospitals finishing her career at House of Pines Nursing Home, retiring in 1991.

Elsie was the beloved wife of Charles Edwin Peck, who predeceased her in 1993. She is survived by her children, Carol Helms (Robert) of Street, MD; Gary Peck (Patricia) of Virginia Beach, VA; Betsy Neitzey (Gary) of Centreville, MD; and Patricia Long (Ronald) of Jarrettsville, MD; four grandchildren, Joshua Neitzey, Jessica Cook, Lisa Dargis, and Amanda Bosley; three great grandchildren, Josh Neitzey, Bella Neitzey and Chase Dargis. In addition to her parents, Henry and Irene Miller, she was predeceased by her sisters, Gene Graf, Katherine Miller, Harriett O’Neil, and her brother, Norman Miller. 

Elsie was an avid gardener, voracious reader, and loved needle crafts (knitting, sewing, smocking and hem stitching). She knitted many hats and baby booties for the church. She was cherished by family and looked forward to family gatherings where she could cook and bake for all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gilchrist Hospice at 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031 or Christus Victor Lutheran Church at 9833 Harford Road, Parkville, MD 21234, where she was a member at the time of her death. Where over the years she volunteered with the Garden committee and Victor’s Vittles Food Pantry.
