Elsie Marie Niiler, age 82, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on October 6, 2022 in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Ware, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Frederick and Elsie-Mae (Robbins) Zajac and wife of Andrus Niiler. Elsie Marie graduated in psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and was a member of the American Association for University Women (AAUW). Later, she obtained her Masters of Divinity degrees from both Gettysburg Lutheran and Lancaster Theological Seminaries, spending time as a intern minister at Trinity Lutheran Church in Joppa, and as minister for Jarrettsville United Methodist Church. She worked many years in hospice care at Fallston hospital, and as a Chaplain for Upper Chesapeake Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed making chocolates from molds to give as gifts.
In addition to her husband Elsie Marie is survived by her sons, Luke (Sandy) Niiler, Tim (Meg) Niiler; grandchildren, James Niiler, John Niiler, Mateo Niiler, Ana Maria Niiler; and sister, Grace Garcia.
In addition to her parents, Elsie Marie was preceded in death by brother, Frederick Zajac, brother, Leo Zajac, brother, Herbert Zajac, and brother, Robert Zajac.
Visitation will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Bel Air, Maryland under the caring guidance of the family owned and operated McComas Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, at 11 am. Services will be held immediately afterwards at noon followed by a luncheon. Interment will take place in Zelienople Cemetery, on Thursday, October 13.
Contributions may be made to the Music Fund at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Bel Air.
