ELLIS V. REEVES, age 88, of Bel Air, MD, died on October 28, 2006, at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born in Sparta, NC, he was the son of the late George Carl Reeves Sr. and the late Mallie Mary Moxley Reeves, and the husband of the late Madge Warden Reeves. A Harford County resident since 1918, he grew up in the Thomas Run Valley and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1936. He farmed several dairy farms in Harford County and drove an ice cream truck in Washington, D.C., with his cousin, Pete Moxley. He co-owned the Twin Kiss Restaurant on Martin Blvd. in Baltimore, MD, with his brother-in-law, and in 1957, he bought Big Cone Restaurant in Havre de Grace, MD, where he built the home behind the business and raised his family. In 1966, he bought Arctic Circle in Churchville, which he and his family have operated ever since. He loved to hunt, fish, and fly, and enjoyed motorcycle races and playing gin rummy with his old high school buddies.
Mr. Reeves is survived by three sons, W. Van Reeves of Naples, Italy, Richard C. Reeves of Churchville, MD, and David E. Reeves of Churchville, MD; two daughters, Susan R. Lawrence of Forest Hill, MD, and Elizabeth R. Spence of North East, MD; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step son, Gary D. Williams of Havre de Grace, MD; two step brothers, Oscar Reeves of Sparta, NC, and John Van Reeves of Sparta, NC; one step sister, Sue Underwood of Florida; one cousin, Pete Moxley of North East, MD; and his longtime companion, Margie Criss of Bel Air, MD.
