Ellen H. Hopkins, age 59, of Bel Air, MD passed away suddenly on March 25, 2021. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Harry L.W. Hopkins and Annie Laurie Rampley Hopkins. She attended elementary school at the old Bel Air Elementary on Gordon Street, middle and high school at Harford Christian School, and graduated from the Hagerstown Business College as a medical secretary. She was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds for over 30 years.
A member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, she also belonged to the Historical Society of Harford County, Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse, and the Hereditary Order of the Signers of the Bush Declaration. She enjoyed bowling and had been a member of several leagues at Forest Hill Lanes and on the APG Post. Her true passion was music, having been a member of several church choirs and the Harford Choral Society over the years and hosting Afternoon Classics every Saturday on WHFC for over 20 years.
Ms. Hopkins is survived by her sister, Laura A. Hopkins and wife, Kathy Schooley, of Ellicott City; brother, Nelson W. Hopkins and wife, Kristine F. Hopkins of Street; niece, Kaitlyn E. Hopkins of Freeland, WA; niece, Allison N. Hopkins of Street; and many other cousins and friends who received her famous birthday cards each year like clockwork.
A private graveside service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, White Hall, MD. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
