Ella "Sue" Burkentine, age 92, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away on January 18, 2025. Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ida (Schmidt) Tilley and the beloved wife of the late Horace Burkentine.
Sue spent most of her life in Harford County, where she created a lasting impact on those around her. She retired in 1995 from First National Bank, where she worked as a teller, building meaningful relationships with her customers and colleagues.
A devoted member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Sue was known for her love of gardening, animals, and flowers. She took great joy in tending to her garden, and her love for nature was a constant source of happiness throughout her life. Sue kept herself active and was deeply devoted to her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Sue was an accomplished cook and baker, always sharing her delicious creations with loved ones. An avid reader, she enjoyed losing herself in books, always seeking new knowledge and stories. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed.
Ella is survived by her daughter, Teresa Lynn Cole and her spouse Donald of Aberdeen, MD; grandchildren, Amy Hoffman, and her spouse Greg; 7 great grandchildren, Emily Blasetti, Aaron Daniels, Camron Hayes, Cassandra Binesar, Ava Hoffman, Kylee Hoffman, and Adrian Hayes.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sue was preceded in death by her grandchild, Kelli Hayes, and 3 siblings.
