Elizabeth Singleton Hamilton

May 4, 1921 — December 13, 2011

Elizabeth Singleton Hamilton, age 90, life-long resident of Harford County, passed away December 13, 2011, at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was the faithful, loving wife of 53 years of Gilbert Lawrence Hamilton, who preceded her in death in March 2010. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by their only child, William Oliver Hamilton, and his wife, Susan, and granddaughters Joanna and Lydia, all of Willimantic, Connecticut.

Elizabeth was born in Harford County, Maryland on May 4, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Amelia and William Singleton, and the sister of the late William P. Singleton, Robert Singleton, Ann Waymeyer, Naomi George, Myrtle George, Fred Herkenhines, Henry Herkenhines, John Herkenhines, and Augusta Herkenhines. She was employed by the Army Chemical Center, Edgewood Arsenal, during World War II, and later employed as the office manager of the YWCA until her retirement in 1986.

Elizabeth was a faithful, dedicated member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Bel Air for 81 years, active in United Methodist Women, Youth Fellowship, and choir. She also taught Sunday School, and was lay leader and treasurer of her beloved church. In addition, she served as a member of the Thomas Run Foundation, and enjoyed many a service at that historical church.

Always a lover of truth, a favorite scripture hidden in her heart was Romans 8:38-39, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, not height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord".

Those who desire may make a donation to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 2350 Conowingo Road, Bel Air, MD 21015.
